Newspaper Hat

Newspaper Hat

HOW TO MAKE A NEWSPAPER HAT

It was Earth day at Princess Z’s school and we (parents) had to make a costume or accessorize them with any recycled material and be creative.I was looking for something that would be creative and served a purpose at the same time.I did my part of research and came  across different ways of recycling newspaper.I found many ways but the thing I decided to go  with was a Newspaper Hat. Here’s how we made a Newspaper Hat by recycling the daily newspaper.

You will need:

Newspapers
Tape
Scissors
Any accessories (like flowers, buttons…) to glue to the hat. (Optional)

Steps:

1.The most important step is to take the right fitting measurements…so do to that make your child sit down, place newspapers sheets on her head…and mold them on the circumference of the head as shown in the picture below👇🏻

Photo is for illustration purpose only

2.Once you have the perfect size… tape around adding layers of newspapers (as many as you like) (I prefer 5 to 6 layers)

*This part is a little tricky…keep adding layers, until your satisfied.

3.Once you have your layered hat, remove and cut out the extra edges and accessories as you like.

I added flowers made from wool and glue them on the  on the taped side making it  look more neat.

Cutting out the extra newspaper will give you layers…making it look more fancy

This is the easier and most useful way of recycling newspaper. These hats can be accessorized in many ways and can be used in parties, recycling day or even in the daily life.

How to make a Nurse Cap

How to make a Nurse Cap

HOW TO MAKE A NURSE CAP

As Princess Z will be celebrating The International Nurse day at her school on Thursday.I didn’t wanted to buy her the full suit available in the market.Firstly they are quite pricey and secondly, they are of one time use only so instead i decided to dress her up in full white clothes with a Nurse Cap made at home.I wasn’t very sure about it at first but then was happy with the result🙂.Below 👇🏻are the step by step instructions on how to make a Nurse Cap:

All you will need is :

-A4 size Chart Paper (I used chart paper to make it a bit stiff, any other kind of paper can be used).

-A Red/Pink Cross (Cut out from colored paper or either painted) (I got my done on the chart paper and painted it pink).

-Scotch Tape/Glue/Stapler

-Scissors

Here are the Step by Step Instructions-

Step 1: I know how we usually get an A1 size chart paper in the market. So to begin with place I placed a regular A4 printer paper on the chart paper and cut it out to get the exact size.

Step 3 : Place and glue the cross in the middle of the folded line.(should be more towards the line fold)👇🏻

Step 2 and 3

Step 4 : Turn the paper over

Note: The line fold should come below

Step 4: Turn the Paper over as guided

Step 5 : Fold the corners and tape/staple them as shown 👇🏻

Snowflakes

SNOWFLAKES

As it’s winters Princess Z and I decided of doing a craft related to snow.As Princess Z has never seen a snowfall (we didn’t travel anywhere this year) couldn’t think of a better way of creating snowflakes and having winter in her own room.I had to practice a lot to get it right.Once I remembered the steps. We moved on making Snowflakes using two colors, red and white. These can be used as a hanging decoration or can be glued on a greeting card. .Any other color can be used according to your choice.

PLEASE NOTE this craft has to be done under adult supervision (the adults need to do the folds and cutting. The kids can do the last decoration part.

It might be hard at first but once you get the steps it’s a piece of cake!! 😊This is one of the easiest crafts to do(just needs a bit of practice). This craft can be made in summer and there are no chances of it to melt down 😜.(Winter will stay all summer).Follow the instructions below to create your very own snowflakes. The more you create the better.

Note:The basic steps are below to help create the ❄️ fold. The design can be made according to your choice.

Kadinsky Circles

KADINSKY CIRCLES

This week me and Princess Z chose an activity that’s all about colors and different big and small circles.

Before I go on,let me go a bit into the history and introduce you to the artist who was behind it all.

Wassily Kadinsky, was a Russian born French Expressionist. His worked looked more like the images below but one of his most recognizable pieces of artwork is his color study known as Squares with Concentric Circles/Rings (Farbstudie Quadrate) (Below Last). This is where the activity is differed from.

It’s all about using as many colors as possible

Princess Z chose to draw, cut and stick circles from different colored paper on to another colored square.Making a colored masterpiece of her own.

Princess Z Kadinsky Circles Masterpiece turned out to be like this

This activity helps increase physical-development from gross and motor skills to free-writing skills.as well as encourages kids to do large pieces of work with large movements without making a mess around.

The best thing about this activity is that it’s not at all messy and can be done anywhere either at school/home.In the end its all about having fun and spending time together.

P.S-This is one of Princess Z’s favourite activity.
