Oli Oli Edutainment Center

Oli Oli Edutainment Center

OLi OLI EDUTAINMENT CENTER

It was a pleasure to be invited to the sneak peak preview of Oli Oli before it opened its doors to the public 2 weeks ago. There are only a few places in Dubai that the whole family can enjoy indoors during Summer and Oli Oli (meaning Joy in Hawaii), has become one of them.Dubai’s first interactive museum and located in Al Quoz (beside Oasis Center) is hours of fun.Me,my sister and my 4 year old princess had a great time exploring and experiencing the activities through the 8 galleries of Oli Oli museum

Read through and you will know why spending three and an half hour there was the best time investment of our day.

When we entered the museum our first stop was the Air Gallery, where we learned about the power of Air.The main attraction of this gallery was the wall of tubes which was all about putting in pieces of orange and pink pieces of fabric, through one side of the tube and seeing them being blown away through and out of the tubes. Not only this there were many more interesting things to do like flying away paper planes, getting a ball through a circle with the power of air,the hurricane stimulater and much more.

Our next stop was the Toshi Net.Built by the Japanese artist Toshiko MacAdam. This structure took almost an year to built and is made out of brightly colored crocheted and knitted nylon weighting almost a 1000 kilos in total. I wasn’t allowed to go inside (no adults are allowed inside the structure due to weight and height restrictions) but it was great to msee Princess Z enjoying her time jumping, climbing and swinging around it.

Next came the Creative Lab where princess Z and I built a robot 🤖 to draw on the page for us while my sister made one for herself on the other side of the table. How we built one was the interesting part..Firstly we chose a base (a plastic jar or a little box),them taped around markers (as many colors as we like) then came in the machine which made the robot move around.Once we were done we moved on to the other section of the lab the Construction Section where we built a star together using sticks and rubber bands.

Before moving on we grabbed a bit at the La Petite Tree House Cafe.

Then we made our way to the upper floor of the museum…moving in towards the room with black curtains called Future Park. This room was all about spending time coloring pictures of sea animals or cars scanning them on a scanner and seeing them appear on the digital wall.Princess Z had a lot of fun spotting her creation and following their journey from one end to another swirling, twirling and moving along with them .Not only this we also played with the glow in the dark balls on the other side of the room.

The room where we spent the most time was Cars&Ramps, where we build Cars from Lego to slide them down the ramps and hoops.Unfortunately we didn’t succeed in getting our cars through the hoop but it was great to see the effort my daughter and the other kids around were putting in to modeling  their cars.

Next on the other side was the Toddler Room.Even though my daughter is not a toddler anymore she enjoyed her time playing around with wooden toys and building a house with the material provided (like pieces of textiles, hooks and ropes). Not to forget the Quiet Room where the little ones can take a nap whenever necessary.

The last space we visited was the Water Space where Princess Z had a blast playing around with water. This place was all about washing cars, shooting canon balls with the force of water, watching whirlpools and getting soaked in the rain 🌧.

IMP Note: its always great to carry extra pair of clothing as there are high chances of getting wet while having fun.

Primary Love Language

Primary Love Language

FIND YOUR CHILDS PRIMARY LOVE LANGUAGE

Last week I attended a very interesting workshop in Princess Z’s school. The workshop was called ‘Find your child’s primary love language’ which was all about helping us (parents) to find out our child’s primary language for more love, confidence, safety, and success.

Two professional and experienced speakers
Dr.Monica MendesClinical Psychologist and Cindy can de MeeksPersonal and Professional Coach from The Valiant clinic were presented to speak in detail about this topic. Before I talk about it in more details let me tell you a bit more about The Valiant Clinic.

Spanning across 15,000 sqm and located at City Walk.Valiant Clinic is part of a vibrant residential and retail destination. It is managed and operated by the Houston methodist global health care services. It is an outpatient center for health checkup in the region with having a preventive and proactive approach to wellness and health management. They provide diagnostic services across a range of medical specialities supported by cutting edge technology and innovation that guarantee a superior patient experience.

Moving on, you all must have heard about Gary Chapman the author behind the famous book series The 5 love languages.Today I will be talking about those 5 primary love languages I learnt myself during the workshop

Like Mr.Chapman says. Attitude. Behavior. Development. Everything depends on the love relationship between you and your child. When children feel loved, they do their best.

Each child, expresses and receives love through one of the five different communication styles .Your love language may be totally different from that of your child. While you are doing all you can to show your child love, he may be hearing it as something completely opposite.

It is  highly important to uncover your child’s love language in order for you to fill up his/her love tank by feeling loved by you.

The Five Love Languages of Children, Dr.Rose Campbell and Gary Campbell discovered was that children understand love in five basic ways: physical touch, words of affirmation, quality time, gifts and acts of service. If you have several children, chances are they each understand love in a different way.

Often parents think that the ideal is to treat each child in the same way. However, a hug means more to some children than to others. So, for example if each child gets a hug, some actually receive more than others. Discovering the primary love language of each child is the key to effectively communicating love.Every child has a special way of receiving love.Take a look below at the 5 primary love languages: 👇🏻.

5 Primary love language
1.Receiving Gifts
2.Physical Touch
3.Acts Of Service
4.Quality Time
5. Words of Affirmation- This was my result

One of these five is the primary love language of your child. If you don’t speak that language, your child will not feel loved. Loving children effectively requires parents to express love in a language that the child understands. The ideal is that children learn to receive and give love in all five languages. This prepares them for good relationships as adults. Your example is the most effective method of teaching. Love your children effectively and they will learn to love others.

SCHOOL STUFF FOR THIS YEAR FS2

This year as Princess Z starts her FS2 stage at her new big school. There were many more school items added on my list than last year.Down below are the things I bought for her this term:

UPixel Bag
This year we didn’t had to run around looking for a backpack. This pixel bag was given as a gift to Princess Z and she already had made up her mind to use it when she starts school.Everything is great about this bag from the colors to the space inside, the side pockets and specially how you can change the designs and get creative with the pixels on the front.

I went with the winged heart design👇🏻

Designs You Can Go For

The backpack comes with a packet of pixels and a guide on how to create the designs. But the pixels provided are not enough so you need to buy extra colored pixels packet available.

The Pixel Chips

The UPixel bag is available at Hamleys or you can order it online through Mumzworld👇🏻

YumBox
Princess Z will be taking the same lunch box this year as it’s her favorite and we couldn’t find a new one just like this (glowing ✨)in stores. One of the most convenient ones I came across and available in the market. This Bento lunch box is something I highly recommend. It comes build in with 4 compartments to give your child balanced and proportional meals.Something I have always wished for, not worrying about food getting mixed up together. Its totally leak proof ,very light weighted and easy to clean. Its also easy to open for those tiny hands 🙂 .The one main feature kids would love are the glow in the dark stars on the lid

School Shoes
I think this is one of the hardest things to buy in the school season.Running around shops trying on again and again to get the perfect comfort level, fitting and size.Alhamdulillah this year we didn’t had to run around much as we got what we wanted at Shoe Mart.We were looking out for shoes that Princess Z could wear/take off easily by herself at school.Something with no laces. We checked shops like Adidas and Nike but the shoes there were not satisfying. The best thing about the shoes we bought from Shoe Mart is that they are very light in weight and easy to wear, just like the way we wanted. 👍🏻
*Shoe Mart has the widest range of school shoes than any other shop at affordable prices if your still looking out for shoes.

White Sports Shoes AED 69/-
Minnie Mouse Black Shoes AED 139/-

Mommy Ramadan Iftar

Mommy Ramadan Iftar

MOMMY RAMADAN IFTAR @ALKHORTENT @JUMEIRAHCREEKSIDE HOTEL

Just another Ramadan day was going to get excited as I was invited to a Mommy Iftar Event at Al Khor Tent in Jumeirah CreekSide Hotel hosted by the lovely Noah (the mama behind Crafty Station) last Sunday (11th of June).

I was really excited to be a part of this event not only because I was taking Princess Z along but also because I was going to use the Careem car service for the very first time.(Getting a free…pick and drop service and back 🙂).I have had heard a lot about Careem and was excited to try it out myself.I had booked the service a day before the event (setting my time, date and location (pick-up and drop off).On the day of the event I was happy to see the driver outside my place 10mins before my scheduled time. Princess Z and I were welcomed with a chocolate date box and had a comfortable ride to the hotel.

Once we arrived we were off…following the sign boards to the crafty kids area. When we went in the room Princess Z was really happy to see all of her favorite things from a balls pit, to crafty stations, face painting ,henna application, my gym training area, slides ,sea-saws, and much more.I was a bit afraid to leave her alone at first (u know the protectiveness as a single mom) but she got so busy (all thanks to the Elite Babies & Tots care takers) that she didn’t even bother to see me off. While Princess Z was busy playing around and making friends in the crafty kids area.I got to chat with a lot of lovely ladies and make new friends 😘,making our way to the Al Khor Ramadan Tent for Iftar.

The Al Khor tent was of decent size ,covered in white drapes all around.Serving international buffet… on either sides of the entrance. There were tables arrangements in the center as well as sofa set arrangements on the side…with purple and pink colored light effects lightened up the hall.We (myself and a few other mommies) were a bit early so we were asked to be seated while we waiting for a few more people to arrive before we could start with the Iftar.During that time the waiters served us drinks.(Jallab,Orange juice or Tamarind).I went for the Jallab as it’s my favorite.

Even though there were still a few mins left for Iftar ,things started to get a bit over crowded by the buffet but anyhow I managed to get my hands on a few dishes.(mostly vegetarian)

The Amazing Partners 👍🏻

After an hour of eating i went back to the crafty kids area to check on Princess Z and to my amazement she was still having fun, participating and getting along with all the other kids (she is on of those shy types ☺️).Anyway I went in and feed her some snacks available outside. The kids snack bar was filled with marshmallows, popcorn, juices, pastries as well as other food items such as nuggets, biryani, and french fries.Princess Z gobbled on some food and went back to play.In the meantime I chatted with some mommies and clicked pictures.

Some Crafty Items Princess Z made for me in the Crafty Kids Area

When it was time to go home, Princess Z was in no mood to go and wanted to stay a bit longer but unfortunately we couldn’t as our Uber had arrived 🙂.On my way out I kissed and waved all the mommies goodbye and Noah handed all the mommies including me some heavily loaded goodie bags👇🏻☺️.

The Items in the Goodie Bag ☺️

It was surely an amazing day and a well enjoyed evening 👍🏻.Thank you Noah and the lovely partners  (Johnson’s baby,Elite Baby & Tots, Empress beauty Salon, My Gym, Careem 🚗, and Honey Bee Nursery)  for such a wonderful event.

How to make a Nurse Cap

How to make a Nurse Cap

HOW TO MAKE A NURSE CAP

As Princess Z will be celebrating The International Nurse day at her school on Thursday.I didn’t wanted to buy her the full suit available in the market.Firstly they are quite pricey and secondly, they are of one time use only so instead i decided to dress her up in full white clothes with a Nurse Cap made at home.I wasn’t very sure about it at first but then was happy with the result🙂.Below 👇🏻are the step by step instructions on how to make a Nurse Cap:

All you will need is :

-A4 size Chart Paper (I used chart paper to make it a bit stiff, any other kind of paper can be used).

-A Red/Pink Cross (Cut out from colored paper or either painted) (I got my done on the chart paper and painted it pink).

-Scotch Tape/Glue/Stapler

-Scissors

Here are the Step by Step Instructions-

Step 1: I know how we usually get an A1 size chart paper in the market. So to begin with place I placed a regular A4 printer paper on the chart paper and cut it out to get the exact size.

Step 2 and 3

Step 4 : Turn the paper over

Step 6 : Fold the instructed lines in the picture below 👇🏻and tape/staple it
